Test Positive Aware Network hosts a World AIDS Day benefit featuring the cast of “Jersey Boys” and hosted by NBC-5’s LeeAnn Trotter. The event is at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door. Tickets include two drink tickets. See tpan.com to purchase tickets.

Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, unveils the Keiskamma Art Project Tapestry in the lobby at 10 a.m. The project is a response to the AIDS epidemic in Hamburg, South Africa. See centeronhalsted.org for more information.
Howard Brown, 4025 N. Sheridan, offers several events, including a 5 p.m. presentation about HIV and the Latino community, a 6 p.m. discussion about the intersection of HIV and mental health and a 7 p.m. panel about women’s health issues, titled “What Vaginas Want.” Learn more about howardbrown.org.
Chicago Opera Vanguard presents “The Chicago AIDS Quilt Songbook,” a benefit concert, at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted. Chicago Opera Vanguard artistic director Eric Reda created the new songbook. VIP tickets are $40. General admission costs $20. AIDSCare Progressive Services offers “A Look at HIV/AIDS and Healthy Living in Chicago” from 7-8 p.m. at John Merlo Library, 644 W. Belmont. Learn more about AIDSCare’s Healthy Living Program in North Lawndale and how it can be applied to people living in the greater Chicago area.
Open Door Clinic displays the AIDS Quilt in commemoration of World AIDS Day. The event starts at noon at the clinic, 164 Division St. in Elgin.

See Better Existence with HIV’s annual art therapy exhibition, on display at the Center on Halsted’s third-floor gallery space, 3656 N. Halsted. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Learn more at behiv.org.
There is a World AIDS Day prayer service at St. Joseph Parish, 1107 N. Orleans, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The DIFFA Chicago Auxillary Board presents DIFFArence 2009, a commemoration of World AIDS Day at Texas De Brazil, 51 E. Ohio, from 5:30-8 p.m. Get tickets ($40 in advance or $50 at the door) at diffachicago.org or (312) 644-6412.

Attend the Annual World AIDS Day Celebration and Awards Ceremony, a Chicago Department of Public Health event that honors community activists. The event, which also features a House and Ball demo, as well as food and drinks, takes place at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark, at 5:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
