Howard Brown Health Center announced that Paul Fairchild will serve as its interim Chief Operating Officer. Howard Brown also announced that the organization's Chief Financial Officer, Mark Joslyn, and Chief Executive Officer, Michael Cook have been placed on paid administrative leave based on an internal decision made by the organization's Executive Board of Directors.

Fairchild joined Howard Brown in 2007 as the organization's Chief Development Officer and has been a leader in Chicago's LGBT community for many years. Before joining Howard Brown, Fairchild served as Vice President, Donor & Community Relations at Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights, where he was responsible for philanthropic fund raising, special events, board relations, community relations and communications. Prior to this position, he was Senior Director of Development at Heartland Alliance, and Director of Development at Horizons Community Services. He holds the distinction of the only male to serve on the Board of Directors of the Lesbian Community Cancer Project, now known as the Lesbian Community Care Project of Howard Brown Health Center, an organization whose mission is to advance the health and quality of life for lesbian, bisexual, and queer women and transgender individuals through advocacy and public education. Fairchild holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations and Sociology from Mankato StateUniversity.

"Our Board remains engaged and will continue to provide guidance and oversight to the organization and will offer Paul our unparalleled support." Phelps added, "These administrative changes pertain to an internal personnel matter which do not impact the mission of Howard Brown Health Center."
